At Allstate, environmental and social leadership in our purchasing decisions helps us demonstrate Our Shared Purpose, which reflects Allstate's values, priorities and behaviors that are embedded in our culture and actions. We expect all suppliers doing business with Allstate to adhere to the practices defined in our Supplier Code of Business Conduct, including human rights, child labor, business diversity, equity and inclusion, regulatory compliance, ethical business practices and climate action.
Our environmental, social and governance (ESG) expectations of suppliers are also reflected in our contractual language, which holds suppliers accountable for their ESG performance and actions.
Aligning our procurement decisions with environmental and social responsibility increases the confidence of stakeholders who depend on Allstate's performance and mitigates risk in our supply chain.
Allstate respects individual human rights and insists that our business partners do the same. Our commitments are highlighted in our Slavery and Human Trafficking Transparency Statement.
The key elements of Allstate's Sustainable Procurement Program include:
- Mitigate environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks in our supply chain by aligning procurement decisions with environmental and social responsibility for long-term value creation.
- Integrate ESG criteria into our procurement processes, systems, policies and decisions, including supplier selection, contract negotiations and supplier performance assessments.
- Measure, manage, and report on suppliers' performance and impact, increasing visibility and transparency in our supply chain.
- Accelerate emissions reduction in our supply chain.
We strive to align our sustainable procurement activities and strategies globally with Allstate Canada, Allstate India, and Allstate Northern Ireland.
Allstate is committed to mitigating climate risk by making our supply chain more sustainable through emissions reduction. We are a member of CDP Supply Chain, a global environmental disclosure platform, that enables our procurement team to measure and manage our suppliers' environmental impact and performance. We expect our suppliers to advance our commitment by disclosing their environmental data via the annual CDP questionnaire.
Suppliers are assessed on governance and strategy, including climate targets, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting, risks and opportunities associated with climate change, and supply chain data specific to Allstate. Data collected informs areas of improvement and collaborative opportunities that generate mutual business value. It also supports Allstate's commitment to reduce the GHG emissions in its supply chain.
We expect suppliers to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from their operations and value chain by reporting on their scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions and to make a commitment to set an emissions reduction target.
